Who We Are?

Welcome to Bright Braille, a dedicated team on a mission to illuminate the lives of individuals with vision impairments. Our journey began with Denise Tata Carter, one of our founders, who has personal experience living with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP).

Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) is a progressive genetic eye disorder that affects the retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye. This condition primarily causes the gradual deterioration of the retina’s photoreceptor cells, leading to a loss of peripheral vision and, in some cases, central vision as well. Individuals with Retinitis Pigmentosa often experience difficulties with night vision, reduced visual acuity, and decreased ability to perceive contrasts and colors.

Denise encountered numerous challenges in finding valuable sources of aid and support, prompting the creation of Bright Braille. With a deep understanding of the struggles faced by those with vision impairments, we are driven to pave a clearer path, ensuring that no one feels alone on their journey.

We offer the following:

1.Information and GuidanceWe strive to be a trusted source of information, offering educational materials, guides, and resources on various topics related to vision impairments. From understanding different eye conditions to learning about assistive technologies and adaptive strategies, we aim to equip individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions.

2.Peer Support We understand the power of connection and the importance of shared experiences. Through our peer support programs and community events, we provide a platform for individuals to connect, share stories, and offer mutual support. We believe that a strong support network is instrumental in navigating the challenges of vision impairments.

3.Advocacy and OutreachBright Braille actively engages in advocacy efforts to raise awareness about the needs and rights of individuals with vision impairments. We collaborate with organizations, government agencies, and communities to promote inclusivity, accessibility, and equal opportunities for all.

4.Empowerment and Skills Development We offer workshops, training sessions, and skill development programs to empower individuals with vision impairments to live independent and fulfilling lives. From mobility training to assistive technology workshops, we aim to equip individuals with the tools and skills necessary to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
